Ever since I first encountered lucid dreaming, the possibility of becoming self aware in dreams there has been one question that has stood out from all the rest in my mind and that is “Who dreams the dream?”
In other words who is this self that becomes aware..?Well the only way we could perhaps approach this answer is by looking at the other, because self and other are like left and right - they go together. Like black and white or up and down you can’t have one without the other, they are mutually interdependent
So in order to determine the nature of myself, I decided to question the other. Specifically, upon realising that I was dreaming I would approach the other beings in the dream and ask them “Do you realise that this is a dream?”
Now that’s a very curious thing to ask someone
I mean if I asked you that same question right now, you’d probably think I was crazy. You might think that you are crazyBut let’s take a moment to consider this
You see although outwardly, left and right are opposites, inwardly one implies the other, because you can’t have left without right or black without white, the two come into being at the same time. You couldn’t have left come on to the stage of the Universe without right, it just wouldn’t make sense and neither could you have self coming into being without the presence of another. So inwardly we are entangled in some kind of bizarre mutual dance and it is this dance that I refer to when I say we are dreaming
When I say that this is a dream, what I mean is that we are one consciousness masquerading as the experience of many in order to have a sense of the other
So, to answer the question I first posed “Who dreams the dream?” It is the dream that dreams the dream itself and you are that dream, you have just chosen to forget it in order to have the experience of the other
But you can’t forget forever because forgetting and remembering go together, they are mutually interdependent and so soon you will have to remember again until you forget it all over and play the game of hide and seek again
So for now, at least, it is time to remember and this is precisely the purpose of my experiment The Mutual Dream Experiment, to allow you to investigate the nature of the other in order to understand the self

December 1, 2025 at 4:53 am #755No luck becoming lucid last night. I do remember parts of the dream, but don’t recall any passwords given to me. I”ll try again. this experiment is intriguing. I’m on a plateau, but as my skills get better, I may be able to produce a password.
December 2, 2025 at 11:36 pm #793Thanks guys, let’s all keep working this process together and see where it takes us, we are pioneers here and need to be open as to what treasures we are going to uncover, so please let’s all keep up the wonderful support
Thanks again
RDecember 10, 2025 at 11:05 pm #811This is my first day, so I have high hopes for tonight. I’m not sure how deep I go into the philosophy of duality, but I understand most of the premise. As a precognitive dreamer, maybe I have a different perspective. I know I have made mental connections before in a dream. One night I dreamed I was building a temple and my little sister was there with me and she was in charge of the pillars. Later that same sister was helping me fly I wanted to fly up high to see what was all around my location, but became scared. I turned to my mother and she looked at me with a smile and held out four pictures, one for each cardinal direction. She had already done the work for me. When I shared that dream with my mother and sister my mother said she had been studying the cardinal directions that week and that she had been studying a scripture that said “daughter’s are like pillars”. This did not shock me, but gave me a little comfort that my dreams really do mean something.
December 29, 2025 at 11:29 pm #852Fortunately, I experience lucidity in dreams on a semi-regular basis, but it began decades ago so I’ve had many total experiences. For me, so much depends on external factors such as schedules, other commitments, normal pressures of living in the city, etc. But if I’ve cleared all distractions and set my intention before going to sleep, I can become lucid.
A major goal for me is interacting with dream characters and it was only this year that I tried and succeeded in being able to read a document filled with numbers I was seeking. This was given to me by a dream character, one that maintained eye contact and answered questions. Finally a breakthrough!
December 31, 2025 at 10:36 am #862Maybe it’s not to be reveiled yet, but is there a match already? I’m very curious. It’s very difficult to unravel one word out of whole dreamscene’s, if it is literally asked. But I read some people mention the experiment in there dreams to DC’s and throw passwords all around lol.
As with psiResearch, i’m in the same situation with different factors, pressures etc. and have to be lucky to become lucid. I wasn’t lucid on the night of the experiment, but experienced a very vivid dreamnight and lucid dream the day before. I totally forgot about the experiment, do people share passwords during the month also? Just in case? Maybe in an “unknown” dreamworld time and date doens’t matter?
December 31, 2025 at 11:28 am #863Looks like we’ve got a hit, I am looking into it and will be back as soon as I can determine the nature of it but it’s definitely a match for match word so far..!

January 27, 2026 at 7:07 am #905I’m still struggling with lucidity and I’ve been lucid only a single time since my sign-up for this experiment, and the lucidity was low level only and I didn’t think of the experiment. If I manage to get lucid enough I’ll try to spread my password, no matter which night, hoping it will somehow live on there to be discovered by or told to another dreamer.
And yes, I do believe time and date doesn’t matter as much over there, as so many dreams have places of the past in them or people that are deceased in waking life.January 27, 2026 at 6:34 pm #907It’s difficult to be lucid exactly that night, if you’re not an advanced lucid dreamer. To focus on it is still a good idea I think. I try to focus on remembering the experiment so when I will be lucid on the night of the experiment in the future (I hope!), I’ve had some exercise and the chance will be bigger I remember to exchange passwords… good luck!
January 27, 2026 at 11:39 pm #915I think the point of having it on one night a month is to really set your intention for it as it’s like…energy building…the great thing about LD’ing, the more you get excited about it, build up to it, the more intensely the dream world is felt because you notice it more, you make it important. But this must be coupled with a feeling of being fine with not having a lucid dream so you don’t end up being a self- saboteur…the dream world is already collective…the idea here i guess is to heighten those connections and then reduce that down even further to the exchange of passwords…it’s a great idea. So on the Saturday during the day i did lots of reality checks, meditations. I also set my alarm for 4am so i could awake and fall back into sleep using a meditation (in Charlie Morley’s book, a wild technique called Hypnagogic Drop In) which was good as when i woke at 4 I couldn’t remember my dreams but then when i fell back asleep using a conscious mediation, the dream world became fast and active. So look forward to the next one, put it in your diary, want to do it (if you really do want to) and i guess we grow from there. As a spontanious lucid dreamer, i could never rely on one night a month, so some focus and discipline is definitely without a doubt increasing the quality of my lucid experiences…I am getting better all the time.
January 27, 2026 at 11:49 pm #916Hey just to add, i was thinking today, i see us here as being explorers…Rory said we are pioneers…we are exploring possibilities here, it’s a very cool game, but a game that raises some interesting questions…:)
January 29, 2026 at 7:32 pm #924Yes you have a very good point. I could spent more time during the day before on meditation etc. Go to bed earlier and set my alarm clock. It is my first day of the weekend and have some practical issues to deal with so I need to improve my planning. I know what works for me so dedication is key here.
January 30, 2026 at 9:50 pm #925Hi Dream Warrior - I posted my stuff re The Experiment in the Mosaic section as that’s where I thought you wanted them posted. Check out my entry, as I’m pretty sure I had some synchronicity with your dream as described in the email you sent out.
Happy dreaming!
