I wondered if anyone else has hypnopompic dreams, when you come out of a dream thinking you can see an object around you actually in the room you are dreaming in. I have had them since I was small. I can identify them and even upon being awake for several minutes I can see the objects and be lucid enough to try to touch them. They vary from geometric shapes to lit up objects ad even butterflies and tiny balls of bright light.

I think the act of actively drawing the dream imagery into the waking state could be considered to be a kind of next level of experience, a kind of hybrid state of consciousness. I don’t doubt that schizophrenia is something akin to this, albeit interpreted by Western medicine as a proverbial disease. Terrence McKenna certainly pointed out how the shaman and the schizophrenic shared a similar world..
